New JumpStart Kangaroo Trimline
The trimline of the JumpStart® Kangaroo® outer shell now rises above the height of the malleoli, with no dip at the posterior. This new trimline strongly reinforces the Kangaroo’s ability to block PF.
Combo Splits Up
The JumpStart Combo, a dual option consisting of an outer liner with both the Kangaroo and Leap FrogTM inner liners, has been discontinued. It‘s no longer feasible for the two inner liners of the Combo to share the same outer shell. The Kangaroo’s outer shell now requires a higher posterior trimline than the Leap Frog. The Leap Frog (SMO) and the Kangaroo (AFO) may be easily ordered as individual products. The Bunny® (SMO) is also a good second option for patients transitioning between floor activities and standing.
New JumpStart Toe Rise Pads
When you request toe rise pads for JumpStarts up through size 6, you’ll receive the new softer, squishier toe rise pads. These are especially designed with the comfort of the very young patient in mind, and they encourage relaxation of high tone.
Improved Toe Rise Pads
For custom DAFOs and JumpStarts larger than size 6, we’ve made improvements to our regular toe rise pads in consistency and finish quality. If a toe rise pad is the right solution for your patient, these will work even better.
Info at Your Fingertips
We’ve upgraded our website to show you relevant orthosis research. If you visit www.cascadedafo.com | Practitioner Resources | Research, you’ll see an annotated list of recent research on dynamic ankle foot orthoses. The list is also available as a downloadable PDF. Another topic, Our Published Articles, shows several expository articles written by Cascade clinicians that appeared in recent professional magazines.
What is a Toe Rise Pad?
A toe rise pad has the plantar contours of the toes on its top side and adhesive on its bottom side. With the adhesive, it sticks to the brace’s toe shelf. Properly positioned, it can give the wearer more proprioceptive feedback at the toes and help "relax" the toes into more extension.
