 PollyEthels and PollyWogs Now in Two Sizes

PollyEthel Casting Footplates and PollyWog shoe inserts are now available in two sizes, narrow and wide, to provide for more accurate patient fit. The PollyEthel Casting Footplates are designed to aid in crafting more accurate casts. The Footplates are quick and easy-to-use with a unique no-slip design. All plantar surface contours including peroneal, longitudinal and metatarsal arches and the DAFO signature toe rise are incorporated into the plate design. The different sized plates stack easily and come in a convenient carrying case for ease in transport.

Off the shelf PollyWog submalleolar orthotics are now available in narrow and wide. These unique shoe inserts provide firm and flexible control for low-tone pronators. The unique trimlines offer a solution to patients who require more control than is offered by a shoe insert, but would be over-braced with a supramalleolar DAFO. The flexible toe shelf, heel cup and full inner liner now in two sizes, provide excellent comfort while enhancing full contact.

New and Improved Brace Straps

Cascade Dafo is now using a higher-quality Velcro®-branded hook and loop for the DAFO straps. The higher-quality Velcro is less likely to fray. In addition to the new Velcro, Cascade is no longer heat welding the straps, but instead is stitching the Velcro at the rivet points and transition from hook to loop on the instep strap. The new Velcro and the stitching create much stronger straps that can handle more wear and tear and will last much longer.

In order to minimize the possibility of the Velcro straps catching on clothing or collecting lint and threads, Cascade has lengthened the instep strap specifically where it transitions from the loop to hook Velcro. The straps function and placement are the same, but instead only have two inches of hook Velcro and the rest is loop, which is much softer and not likely to catch.

New Flipper Update Kit

Enclosed in the envelope with this newsletter is your new Flipper Update Kit. It is a small and simple “replacement kit” that allows you to update your current flipper with the latest trims available from Cascade Dafo. The kit comes with new colored life size pictures of the available strap patterns and designs. Each strap design is represented on an approximately 1” x 3” colored card stock. Simply cut the zip tie of your flipper holding the old trim samples and discard. Then use the enclosed zip tie to loop through the hole on the new trim samples and attach through the hole in the yellow foam flipper. Specific instructions are included with the trim sample packet.
